Legal to own human remains?

I would like to start collecting human remains due to the fact i am in the medical field (surgical pa) and have an interest in both forensic and anthropology, am i allowed to own antiques and/or artifacts of human remains from various places around the world? No i am not digging them up, they are acquired by art dealers and no not “ebay dealers”. I have learned proper techniques (and can obtain legal documentation at times) that the pieces are authentic. I plan to collect but to also use them in a book i plan to write soon. I know Native American human remains are not to be obtained, but what about other regions in the world? Mayan? South East Asian pieces? Aside from human remains, what about pieces made from animal that are considered antiques or artifacts? How can I be the legal owner of these pieces if they were purchased from an art dealer? Thank you kindly for your time.

Hmm, people keep the ashes of cremated bodies, those are technically human remains. And I know you can own plasticized bodies, so I imagine it’s ok.

So you want to go to Medical School?

So you want to go to Medical School?

$6.99

There are tons of books out there telling you how to improve your chances of getting into medical school. All of these tomes are based on the assumption that the prospect reader wants to become a medical doctor. The author of this eBook believes that in this day and age the question should be not how you can get into Medical School but whether or not you should ever consider going to Medical School in the first place. This book paints a very different picture of the medical profession than the one most students and their parents envision when they set out on the long arduous pathway to achieve a MD degree. In some ways deciding on a medical career today is similar to entering a bad marriage that was doomed to failure from its inception because of some fatal flaw in one or both of the participants or because the supposed benefits of the union were wildly exaggerated. When considering a medical career today one must carefully weigh the options available in today's multifaceted work place wherein there are literally endless opportunities to become financially secure in a variety of challenging occupations. More importantly today's prospective medical student should consider very carefully whether the ultimate financial benefits of a medical education can even remotely compensate them for all the years of study and hard work it will take to become an MD let alone the massive debt most of them will have to take on to achieve this rather dubious goal. This 10 chapter 6653 word fact filled eBook deals with all of these important issues in a straight forward fashion. If you or your son or daughter is considering a medical education this may be one of the most important books you will ever read! Finally this book should be read by young people students in their junior or senior years of high school. If you stumble onto the book after having completed a year or two of premed in college and then decide that a medical career is not for you a significant amount of time and money will have been wasted taking courses like chemistry and physics that may have little or no application to other fields of interest.

The Physician's Convenant: Images of the Healer in Medical Ethics

The Physician’s Convenant: Images of the Healer in Medical Ethics

$19

“In this updated edition of a classic text, May considers the overarching images that shape the convictions and daily practice of the physician. Taking a step back from the procedures and quandaries that are the focal points of many books on ethics, he explores the moral power of images in understanding the healer and defining his or her tasks. In this volume he updates his reflections on five images of the healer: parent, fighter, technician, teacher, and covenanter. The book also contains new material on the ethics of access to health care, genetic technologies, and physician-assisted suicide.>At a time when medical professionals are questioning their own roles, May offers ethical understanding based on moral reflection. He sets forth images that can shape and order experience, presenting the practitioner with imperatives by which to live. This book will challenge physicians, students, and teachers of medical ethics to reach a deeper understanding of the physician’s place in society.”

Last Rights: Rescuing the End of Life from the Medical System

Last Rights: Rescuing the End of Life from the Medical System

$3.99

In the 1970s, most Americans died swiftly and brutally: of heart attacks, strokes, cancer, or in accidents. But in the past three decades, medical advances have extended our lives and changed the way we die. In The Most Important Time In Your Life, Stephen Kiernan reveals the disconnect between how patients want to live the end of life – pain free, functioning mentally and physically, surrounded by family and friends – and how the medical system continues to treat the dying – with extreme interventions, at immense cost, and with little regard to pain, human comforts, or even the stated wishes of patients and families. Backed with surveys, interviews, and intimate portraits of people from all walks of life, from the dying and their families to the doctors and nurses who care for them, this book will be for our time what Elizabeth Kubler-RossÂ’s books were for a previous generation.
